We aim to amend the UN Guidelines for Consumer Protection to include A2K principles (such as limiting the abuse of intellectual property rights through technology or contractual terms). This would provide an international soft law instrument that consumers can use to advocate for laws and corporate practices that promote access to knowledge.

CSTD 15th session

Posted 71 days ago by Jeremy Malcolm

When: 21 May 2012 - 25 May 2012

Venue: Geneva

Organiser: ECOSOC

The agenda has not yet been released, but priority themes from the last meeting were:

  • Measuring the impact of information and communications technology for development
  • Technologies to address challenges in areas such as agriculture and water

CI would like the CSTD to consider taking on our amendments to the UN Guidelines for Consumer Protection as a new agenda item.
