Welcome to the OER university discussion group hosted in the UNESCO OER community platform. This community page will be used for hosting the main planning discussions.

All documentation for planning the OER university will be conducted on WikiEducator.  Bookmark this page:

2011 will be a quantum shift year for the mainstream adoption of OER in the formal education sector :-).

Hello Dr. Wayne and other friends,

Greetings!

I am very happy to become a part of OER & OERu discussions on this UNESCO platform. Thank you Abel, and Dr. Wayne.

As suggested by Dr. Wayne in an earlier post, we may continue discussions on OERu here and carryout documentation in wiki, ie, wikieducator.org. Let us join hands to ensure that OERu is establsihed in a year's time.

I would also like to suggest that we may also initiate oeru related discussions in our personal networks as well so that ouputs of such discussions in the friends' circles would become inputs here, and outputs of the discussions here will become invaluable inputs for the documentations in the wiki.

And also very happy to see the development of OERu project page on wikieducator.org at http://wikieducator.org/OER_university/Home as well as the fast increasing registration of volunteers at http://wikieducator.org/OER_university/volunteers#Registry_of_volunteers

Warm regards,

Anil

Hi Anil,

I'm very happy that UNESCO has an excellent working relationship with the OER Foundation and an agreement for the UNESCO OER Commuity to host the discussions for the OERu.

There are overlaps between the UNESCO OER Community and the WikiEducator Platforms such as features (wiki, pages, file and photo sharing, etc) as well as members.

We thought the Discussions feature of the UNESCO OER Community was unique and would provide a great permanent record of the formulation of the OERu. We will shortly be implementing a 2nd unique Oxford-style Debate function.

In a few weeks, we'll be introducing a slew of features including SSO and full social media integration. In a few short months we will also have CC BY SA NC licensing working steadily upwards to full CC BY licensing. You can imagine how I have to work within UNESCO's steady-as-she-goes processes.

Wayne will very shortly be inviting the OERu Google and WikiEducator Groups to the parent UNESCO OER Community, asking them to jump in and join the OERu sub-Community. Then the sub-Community will be alive and jumping with comments.

I'm looking forward to this quantum OER year.

Abel

I am sure that the Encyclopedia of Earth can prove to be a useful resource for the OER University.

See more detail about the intent and operations of the Encyclopedia of Earth on this platform.

It is free and open for your use.
