Hi Mika, I had been involved in financing and bringing to market easy to use local language input methods for Indian languages for the past 11 years. Easy to use Indian language keyboards and keypads are essential for the many native language speakers in India. I have witnessed the mobile revolution happen there. However, I feel that there is so much more that can happen in terms of access and usability if people are given tools in their languages that are intuitive. Here is a link to my work last year with designing local language phones for India: There had been significant interest from the mobile industry about such a product. However, due to issues regarding partnership agreements with my Indian partner, my efforts have met with a dead end. I continue to strongly believe in the importance of addressing local language issues in all developing countries. The numbers are great and so is the business opportunity. Regards, |
