Discussions > Uruguay RFP for 1,000 OERs

Plan CEIBAL in Uruguay, the government organization managing Uruguay's One Laptop Per Child XO program, has published a Licitación/RFP (in Spanish) for a professionally-managed national education management system and for up to 1,000 digital e-learning resources, 500 for primary schools, and 500 for secondary schools. Funding is through the Inter-American Development Bank.

Sugar Labs and FLOSS Manuals are seeking partners to work on a project to translate existing OERs into Spanish and to create new ones making use of the Sugar education software that runs on OLPC XOs. Our first such offering is the Spanish translation of Make Your Own Sugar Activities, as Como Hacer Una Actividad Sugar.

See Replacing Textbooks in the Sugar Labs Wiki for a brief statement on this program, with a link to an Open Office document containing an English translation of the fairly short requirements section of this document. We have passed over the large quantity of legalese that governments feel obligated to include.

Please let us know if you or your organization might be interested, and let us know of other OER organizations to contact.
