Dear colleagues,

I need to know what are the correct spellings for "Open Educational Resources" in Russian, Chinese, and Arabic

الموارد التعليمية المفتوحة

I like this better, the Arabic letters in your post are loose, which makes the words unreadable. This forum apparently does not support Arabic. Anyway I have a word/pdf file if necessary.

Regards, Fred

Thank you very much Fred,

If I want to separate one word for each line, how would it be? I mean, according to Arabic reading orientation?

Asmaa Ibrahim

for arabic it would be

موارد

تعليمية

مفتوحة

sorry, but is "open" here a noun or a verb???
I translated it as a noun

Both are possible, with or without 'the', but as the general concept of OER is meant, I agree with Asmaa. Here is a version in picture.

With Russian translation I would go for "Открытые Образовательные Ресурсы" has been used on a Russian UN site http://ru.iite.unesco.org/news/387945/

Hello, I am working on translating some plugin into Arabic.

How would you suggest to translate terms that are specific to the CMS Elgg, for instance "river" and "wire" ?

+ use words with the same literal meaning:

river =>  دفق

wire => سلك

Or

+ write the prononciation as it is with Arabic alphabets

river => رفر

wire => واير

Or, other alternatives?

In arabic it should read

المصادر التعليمية المفتوحة or

مصادر تعليمية مفتوحة

Would it be right like that:

My Dear Friend,

The word موارد in Arabic could mean (imports & resources).  However, the word that we use to express --> resources in Arabic is  مصادر.

All the best...

Thank you very much Khuzaima! I had some trouble while writing Arabic in the text editor, but I think now is ok. As you suggested, the following would be correct, right?
