Welcome to the WSIS Knowledge Community on the proposed A2K amendments to the United Nations Guidelines for Consumer Protection, which seeks to set baseline global standards for access to knowledge through a non-binding international instrument.
This project is coordinated by Consumers International (CI), the world federation of consumer groups that, working together with its members, serves as the only independent and authoritative global voice for consumers.
With over 220 member organisations in 115 countries, we are building a powerful international movement to help protect and empower consumers everywhere.
Briefly describe yourself:
We aim to amend the UN Guidelines for Consumer Protection to include A2K principles (such as limiting the abuse of intellectual property rights through technology or contractual terms). This would provide an international soft law instrument that consumers can use to advocate for laws and corporate practices that promote access to knowledge.
